Hearts meant to love will always find each other.
Mia DeAngelis knew it was time to make a change. Wanting to provide a better life for herself and her ten-year-old nephew, Ben, she took a chance and moved to the small town of Compass Cove. Now, the college librarian is adapting to a new job, a new town, and living with her feisty seventy-eight-year-old grandmother. Mia is determined to make it all work, hoping the coastal hamlet gives both her and Ben the sense of community, family and belonging they both want so much.
Adam Miller, a retired NFL quarterback, has come back to Compass Cove to start over after an injury puts an end to his high-octane life. Settling into the small town routine proves to be a challenge, but his job coaching at Jennings College gives him a sense of purpose while keeping him connected to the game he loves.
There couldn’t be two people more different, yet the minute they meet, friends and family have no doubt they belong together. Now if Mia and Adam can only get out of their own way and embrace a little hometown magic, they can find the happy ever after they both crave…
My Review:
I’m so excited to be a part of the release blitz for Jeannie Moon’s Then Came You! This was such a heart-warming story that was full of realistic and relatable characters and conflict.
Mia has returned to Compass Cove to work as the librarian at the local college, while also raising her nephew Ben and living with her grandmother. Adam is a former NFL star that now lives in Compass Cove again and is the football coach at the college where Mia works. One day Ben runs away from the library and Adam discovers him on the field. Was it a coincidence, or part of the magic of Compass Cove?
With the exception of Mia and Adam’s first meeting, there was nothing I did not love about Mia. She was beautiful, intelligent, caring, and just an all-around great person. Adam had a reputation of being somewhat of a playboy and a history of dating models and celebrities, but I loved everything about him from his first appearance in the novel until his last. Ben was also a wonderful character with the perfect amount of complexity and child-like characteristics that were appropriate, but I must say that I loved Mia’s grandmother! Ahhh, to have her energy and spunk at that age…
As previously stated, Then Came You addresses several issues regarding death, loss of a parent, guardianship, sports injuries, and tense relationships with loved ones. I found it effortless to relate to the plot and identify with the characters from beginning to end. There are some challenging moments in the novel, especially between Mia and her (evil) mother, but overall, this was a feel-good novel that I truly enjoyed. Jeannie Moon has created a romantic story that isn’t over the top, and it left me with a perfectly warm and fuzzy feeling!
