My Review:
I am so excited to be a part of the release blitz for We Were Memories, the new novel from author Brandi Aga! Leylah and Ryan had been married for a few years when he was suddenly all-consumed by work and traveling for work. Leylah was an ER nurse with a best friend Erin but found herself missing the companionship of Ryan. When “researching” a potential date for Erin, Leylah meets Roman. Everything quickly changes from there.
I’ve mentioned before when books were challenging to review for fear of giving spoilers, but this will be the toughest one yet. First of all, do not draw any conclusions about any of the characters based on the book’s blurb and/or my introduction. This is one of those fabulous novels that whenever I thought I knew what was going to happen, I would be completely proved wrong. First I thought Ryan was a bad husband, then I wasn’t sure about Leylah, then back to Ryan, then to Roman, and so forth. This book absolutely held my attention from beginning to end, and as previously stated, I was wrong about most of my early guesses as to what would happen and what the outcome would be.
We Were Memories is full of emotion, sexy scenes, sadness, anger, and joy. Brandi Aga has written a novel that will definitely reach out to all of your emotions, although I must admit that there were moments I was so frustrated with the characters I could have screamed! However, that usually tells me that the author’s character development is amazing, as is their ways of bringing the reader into the story and getting them invested in the characters.
Does this novel have a HEA? I think that it does, but that will also be up to each reader to decide for themselves, depending on which way they wanted things to go. If you hate cliffhangers, do not fear. There is not a cliffhanger ending, however, the ending provides hope and suggestion of a follow-up novel (which I really am hoping for). This novel will really get you thinking about thinking with your head rather than your heart, or vice versa. It also serves as a reminder that love does not always look perfect or come in a perfect package, and that families are not all the same.
I cannot promise that you will be a fan of all of the characters or that you will agree with all of their choices – but make sure you grab this one asap. Allow yourself some free time, however, because you will not put it down once you start.
