“HE LOVES LONG,
LOVES HARD, BUT HE DON’T LOVE EASY.”

Katrina Vega is set
on one thing: finishing college. She’s determined not to let anything or anyone
distract her, especially not hot brooding bikers. On her mission to stay
focused, she doesn’t expect to be pulled into the fold of a motorcycle club,
let alone into the arms of Alec “Mute” Stillwater.

Unable to keep her
guard up, Katrina soon discovers that beneath the hard and rough exterior of a
family she’s grown to care for, there’s also loyalty and passion she’s envious
of. But falling for the club’s enforcer will not only threaten her plans but
quite possibly her life.

My Review:

What an amazing debut for author M.L.Nystrom! Mute (Dragon Runners Book 1), is everything I love about MC novels and so much more. Kat is a struggling nursing student in a small North Carolina town and chances upon a job at a local bar. There she is introduced to the biker world and specifically the Dragon Runners Motorcycle Club. Kat quickly becomes fascinated by a quiet biker named Mute, who sits at the bar every evening drinking coffee and playing bouncer when needed in the rowdy place. She thinks that Mute hates her, but she slowly learns that she may be wrong.

God love the cover to this novel because I think it’s the perfect Mute! I have to admit that the first few chapters left me wondering if I wanted to finish this one. Mute’s story and the way that he and Kat interacted with one another initially felt silly. However, I was very wrong. The development of their relationship was slow, realistic, and was full of suspense. But even better were all of the supporting characters. Brick (the President of the club) and his “old lady” Betsey were wonderful, caring, and the perfect characters to run the club. I fell in love with Stud very quickly and can picture him in my mind (and can’t wait for his story). I wasn’t a huge fan of the club “bunnies,” however I find that they are always my least favorite part of MC novels. Also – prepare for Mackie to take hold of your heart! This old man was a wonderful character that made me smile.

I love that M.L. Nystrom put a unique spin on an MC novel that was perfectly balanced with Biker lifestyle, romance, crime, suspense and the strength of family. Like I said earlier, at first I wasn’t sure about Mute and his story, but I was very wrong. Moreover, I had no idea that this was a debut novel by M.L. Nystrom while reading. The characterization and plot development suggested that of an experienced author, so kudos to the author for a fantastic debut! I will be eagerly awaiting book 2 in the series and cannot recommend this one enough to MC fans or anyone that is curious about MC romances!

Author Bio
ML Nystrom had
stories in her head since she was a child. All sorts of stories of
fantasy, romance, mystery and anything else that captured her interest.  A
voracious reader, she’s spent many hours devouring books; therefore, she
found it only fitting she should write a few herself!
ML has spent
most of my life as a performing musician and band instrument
repair technician, but that doesn’t mean she’s pigeon-holed into one
mold.  She’s been a university professor, belly dancer, craftsperson, soap
maker, singer, rock band artist, jewelry maker, lifeguard, swim coach, and
whatever else she felt like exploring.  As one of her students said to her
once, “Life’s too short to ignore the opportunities.”  She
has no intention of ever stopping… so welcome to her story world. She
hopes you enjoy it!
