My Review

A Tycoon’s Bargain is the upcoming novel in Avery Laval’s Sin City Tycoon Series, and oh my, it’s good! Thom is a super-rich, sexy Aussie (in Manhattan) and Cassie is a beautiful landscape designer. When Cassie’s biggest client asks her to participate in a charity bachelorette auction, she reluctantly agrees. However, when Janessa stuffs Cassie into a too-tight, ridiculous dress and confesses that she put her in that dress so that she would be more desirable when it was her turn, Cassie wanted to back out. But with her head held high, Cassie takes the stage and is surprisingly auctioned for $20,000. Soon Cassie is losing her biggest client because the person that bid and won a date with her is Thom – whom Janessa considers her boyfriend.

This book starts out completely fast-paced and engaging, starting with Cassie’s humiliation and Thom stepping in to save her from her embarrassment. Soon after, the reader gets to know each of these characters and is providing a front-row seat to Thom discovering feelings that he never knew that he had. There is a very surprising twist and conflict in this story as Thom is trying to charm Cassie, that I never saw coming. And this twist just adds to the suspense and excitement surrounding Thom, Cassie, and whether or not a relationship would develop between them.

Surprisingly, this was my first time reading Avery Laval and first of all, I loved this book. But secondly, I loved how real and relatable Cassie was. Although she was extremely devoted to her work, like Thom and plenty of other people in the world, Cassie was extremely down to earth, modest, and caring. She could switch from shy to sexy to sassy at a moments notice and it was addictive watching Thom fall for her more and more as the story progressed.

My only criticism of the novel was the length. I really wanted more of Thom and Cassie! Not just the progression of things regarding whether or not they would end up together, but I was also left wanting to know more about their lives further down the road. These were fantastic characters that I just didn’t want to say goodbye to.

A Tycoon’s Bargain should definitely be added to your TBR if you’re looking for a quick, entertaining, sexy, and romantic read. Although this is my first time reading Avery Laval, it absolutely will not be my last. I cannot wait to read the other novels in the series, both earlier ones and book #5 coming next year!
