The Loon: Yaya: Season One Episode Two (The CRD Series Book 3),
by Shannyn Leah and Kelly Moore
Publication: September 18, 2018
About the book:
Chaos continues in The Loon, aka Yaya. Her crazy antics land her in jail beside the man she blackmailed. The cops can’t wait to set her crazy ass free. When she gets home and finds out Lucy is in even more trouble, her not so natural motherly instinct kicks in and she sets out on a comical mission with Tommy and Pops. Hold on for the ride and learn more dark secrets of the Davenports.
Warning: If you are looking for a sweet, sensitive book with a happily ever after, this isn’t it. It is a totally inappropriate book about a completely dysfunctional family. The F word flies free along with many other curse words. Feel free to get drunk (because the Davenports sure are!) while you’re reading it, and prepare to wet yourself laughing. If sex scenes are not your thing, this book might not be your thing. But, if you have a crazy sense of humor and like raunchy comedies – you’re in the right place. Join in on the craziness of The Crazy Rich Davenport Family.
My Review:
Hopefully, you’ve seen my previous reviews of this wonderfully inappropriate and hilarious series, but I must say that so far, The Loon is my favorite! This is primarily Yaya’s book, providing readers with a lot of up close and personal chaos in a day of Yaya. Her husband Max is along for the ride for most of her craziness, experiencing one of her “Mixer Mondays” at the retirement home, dealing with a kidnapped burglar, and playing a cop once or twice – so to speak. Despite the whirlwind of craziness that is Yaya, she is also very focused and committed to figuring out how/why Cash’s father is blackmailing Lucy and forcing her into this marriage, and we get to see an even more protective side come of Yaya than ever before.
In the meantime, Daisy is struggling and losing at keeping Tommy and Slutty Pepper hidden away, Bets is getting into trouble at school, Roxy thinks they need to hold a séance, and Troy manages to completely melt Lucy’s heart with the way he jumps in and helps out her family regardless of what’s happening.
There’s also some very sad news in this book that the family will have to figure out what to do with, along with a very suspenseful ending. I can’t say for sure without re-reading the previous installments, but this may be the sexiest/most provocative of them all, but Shannyn Leah and Kelly Moore have taken this fantastic blend of sex and humor and have now thrown in some more serious issues for the family to deal with and overcome.
O.K., so maybe Roxy sensing spirits on the property and Gemma feeding the giraffe in the backyard isn’t exactly serious, but they have thrown some tough issues into the mix with this wild and wacky family, which I can’t wait to learn more about. As always, I remain in awe of these wonderful authors (and perhaps, wonder about their sanity at times, lol) at how they can bring such an eclectic group of characters to life, somehow make them relatable, and make it feel like I’m just kicking back watching my favorite sitcom on television. As I was telling a friend the other day, this series is the perfect antidote for anyone who feels that they keep reading the same thing over and over. I assure you that this is the most unusual series you will ever read, you will laugh hysterically, and these characters will stay with you long after the last page.
*Thanks to the authors for providing this arc in exchange for my honest review!
