My Review

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Cecy Robson’s latest release in the Carolina Beach series, Infinite. Hale Wilder and Becca Shields grew up together as very close friends that almost crossed into a romance. Each had their own childhood struggles with their families, yet both went on to become very successful with Hale and his Wall Street career and Becca as a PR rep for a professional football team. A crisis affecting Hale professionally and personally sends him back to Kiawah with their childhood friends and face to face with Becca, who is there to help her childhood love that she has never forgotten.

This novel started out with a very emotional and romantic tone, that soon turned absolutely heartbreaking. However, as things move forward to the present and the lives that Hale and Becca created, it quickly became clear how much they had both changed. I love both of these main characters, but I was not particularly impressed with who they had become as people.

Once the craziness in Hale’s life sent him home, the author slowly peeled back both his and Becca’s layers, eventually bringing their real and honest selves to light. I loved watching their professional personas slowly melt away, revealing the two friends that had secretly loved one another years ago. Even better, was the wonderful friends included in the novel, especially Sean, who made me laugh hysterically several times!

Both Hale and Becca were forced to deal with painful memories from their pasts and I must say that Becca’s reunion with her family broke my heart. Hale’s reunion with his brothers was also emotional, but nothing like what Becca endured. But, regardless of a few sad moments, this book was overall one about second-chances and the power of friendship and love.

Unfortunately, I have not read the first two novels in the Carolina Beach series, however, it in no way impacted my enjoyment of the novel. I wouldn’t call this an easy or light read but it is fast-paced, funny, and will make your heart happy!
