A For You Novel

Genre: New Adult Sports Romance

Release Date: February 4, 2019

I’ve loved Jordan Grady since I was eight.
Since he became my protector.
Since he became my safe haven each night.
But I was younger.
Off limits…
Until high school when he finally kissed me.
And for a few fleeting moments, everything was right in the world.
Then I was forced to do the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do…
Disappear from his life without a trace.
I’m Alabama’s star right tackle—and a real prick.
I live my life by a few solid truths.
Life isn’t fair.
Don’t let anyone get too close.
And those who claim to care about you can up and leave.
But you know what they say about things that disappear….
But Emery Pruitt had never been mine.
Even if she had returned after four years.
And more beautiful than the night she vanished.
But it didn’t erase the fact that she’d left me.
So, why find me now?

**My Review**

Welcome to my stop on the release blitz for the latest novel by J. Nathan, For Emery! This is the 4th novel in the For You series, and although I haven’t read the previous books, it in no way effected my enjoyment of this one. Let me warn now about possible triggers involving domestic violence, however, this story is tastefully done, sweet, and romantic.

Neighbors Jordan and Emery meet when Emery is eight years old and Jordan is eleven. Escaping from the violence at her own house, Emery shows up at Jordan’s window one night seeking respite from everything at home. After becoming the best of friends, Jordan finally kissed Emery for the first time once she started high school. But then she and her mother disappeared. Years later, Jordan is an offensive tackle for Alabama and the new quarterback, Flip, which Jordan despises, walks into a party with none other than Emery – all grown up. Jordan has hardened over the years, still resentful about Emery leaving, but they quickly fall back into their friendship, and more.

Jordan’s character was certainly flawed when Emery and he reunite at Alabama, but I still loved his character, as well as, Emery. All of his sweetness and gentle nature quickly returned once he got close to Emery again, as well as, his fantastic sense of humor and major sexiness! My favorite thing though was the fact that Emery had loved Jordan since she was a little girl and despite the years and miles that they were apart, her feelings had not changed.

Mery’s stepdad Wayne, as well as, the new quarterback Flip, were both obstacles to their relationship, yet they each showed amazing resilience and perseverance when it came to their friendship, blossoming romance, family, and school. And if you love a happy ending, this is definitely a must-read! Get your Kleenex ready for happy tears, because this one couldn’t have a more perfect ending. A great read that was fast-paced, engaging, and had characters that were easy to care about and invest in.

Emery stood there, her eyes dancing with amusement. Her skinny jeans
and sparkly black tank top made her fit in with the rest of the girls in the
crowded bar. But she wasn’t just any girl. “What’d you do?”
My eyes narrowed.
She ticked her head over her shoulder. “To make her ditch you in the
middle of the dance floor?”
“I told her I wasn’t taking her home with me.”
Emery stared at me, her brows drawn. “Why not? Isn’t that what you college
football players do? Get girls to go home with you?”
I shrugged. “Not sure. You wanna come home with me?”
She laughed and her entire face lit up like it did when we were
younger. And that right there. That was the reason the other girl wasn’t coming
home with me. She didn’t look at me like Emery did.
The thought hit me hard, nearly leveling me.
I wanted to be looked at the way Emery looked at me—like she saw the
real me. I deserved that.
