**My Review**
Welcome to my stop on the release blitz tour for Meant to Be, the latest from author A.K. Evans. I did not realize when I signed up for this tour that this was a part of her Roadtrip Romance series, but it didn’t impact my enjoyment in the least.
For all of you tomboys out there, or at least the ones that ran with boys when you were little, this is the book for you. This novel is about two brothers Liam and Zev, and their best friend/neighbor, Tillie. They’ve been friends since they were little, but one day, when everyone has grown well into their teenage years, Liam looks in Tillie’s direction and tells his brother, “I’m gonna marry that girl someday.” Even though Zev is secretly in love with Tillie, he concedes because it’s his big brother. Fast forward several years and tragedy strikes, sending this threesome of best friends into turmoil. But a life-changing event for Tillie seems to mean something else to Zev when they are comforting each other.
O.k., so I loved this book because the level of sweet romance was off the charts. The chance of the circumstances that came to light with Zev and Tillie are slim, but it was still so sweet it made my heart go wild. On the other hand, this book was crazy sad at times. We’ve all had best childhood friends that have faded away, but these three stayed tight well into their adult years. So, it was heart-wrenching when the big turn of events happened, although it was somewhat predictable.
What I loved about this novel was the raw emotions between three childhood best friends, coupled with the new emotions that surfaced as they grew up. What greater love story than one that starts in childhood and grows into adulthood?
What I didn’t like was some of their dialogue, which I found to be inconsistent. One minute people would be spewing sexy comments into someone’s ears and the next the conversation sounded strangely formal and juvenile. This may not bother anyone but me, but I have learned over my years that when the dialogue suddenly is completely free of contractions that would be normal in day-to-day speech, it feels forced and faked to me. Perhaps I’m just subpar when it comes to casual language, but I also know what sounds like normal speech versus something cold and abnormal. But other than that issue, this was a wonderfully romantic read that I certainly recommend!
