My Review

Welcome to my stop on the release blitz for Whatever You Need! This is the second novel in S. Jones’ Whatever it Takes series and is about hot detective Marco and dedicated businesswoman Amelia. I will start by saying that I have not yet read the first in this series, but don’t worry, this can be read on its own.

Marco doesn’t pursue relationships because of being burned in the past and Amelia is married to her career. The two meet under very awkward but hilarious circumstances and somehow just keep bumping into each other. The chemistry is off-the-charts, but unfortunately there are secrets between them and obstacles galore.

So, without giving the main points of the plot away, I truly struggled with the conflict regarding Amelia and her job. It’s 2021 and the entire situation was not only ridiculously old-fashioned but I’m guessing could be fought in court as illegal. Anyhow, once I got past that, I was able to get more into the groove of this novel that was full of a colorful cast of characters. I fell in love with Marco’s grandmother and I know you will too. This romance is fast-paced, sexy, and also really stresses the theme of family and its importance. Honestly, and I hate to be repetitive, my only issue with the novel was Amelia’s stipulations regarding her job and her not telling Marco about early on. Otherwise, this was a great read for me.

S. Jones is a talented writer that I am happy to have discovered. I will definitely be reading more from her in the future!

“So…” She gestured for me to sit down on the couch. I was disappointed when she took the seat opposite of me. “How did you know where I lived?”

I cleared my throat and sat up straighter. There was no sense in lying, so I told her the truth. “I looked up your information from the police report.”

“Ahh,” was all she said, and I was grateful she didn’t seem too bothered by that.

I pulled on the back of my neck, trying to relieve some of the tension. “Look, I know we weren’t supposed to see each other again, but I really enjoyed my time with you that night. And then when I saw you the other day,” I grinned, hoping she found it just as amusing as I did, “I knew that I needed to seek you out.”

She crossed her legs, and suddenly memories of them wrapped around my back had my zipper straining against my pants. “Why is that?” she asked, drawing my attention up to her face.

“Well,” I coughed, “I’d like to think that we both had a good time that night, and I’d like to do that again.”

She looked appalled at that suggestion. “So, you illegally gained my address, which I’m pretty sure goes against policy, and thought it would be a good idea to show up at my home unannounced and ask for a booty call?”

My eyes widened. “Shit, that came out wrong. I’m sorry, Amelia. What I’m trying to say is that I’d like to see you again.”

“With or without my clothes on?” She challenged me with a pointed look.

Was that a trick question? Judging by the way her blue eyes were turning icy, I’d say not.
