Happy release day to Renee Harless and her newest novel, Between the Lines. This contemporary romance is about an actress named Quinn who needs a break and decides to head home to Texas and visit her best friends from childhood Izzy and her twin brother Trevor. However, Quinn has always had a crush on Trevor, making the friendship between them a little tricky. Little does she know, that Trevor has always had a crush on her too!
I loved Quinn’s character in this novel because although she was a famous actress, she was so down to earth and normal. Between pining away for Trevor for years, worrying about the friendship between the three of them, and the ongoing issues with her parents – she just seemed real.
As far as Trevor goes, I love that man! Sexy, smart, funny, dedicated, caring – he was fairly close to perfection. He frustrated me several times due to his inability to speak up and say what he wanted, but overall, he was my favorite part of this novel.
The only thing I did not like about Between the Lines was Izzy. She has to be one of the most immature and selfish characters that I have encountered in awhile. Her whining and comments reminded me of very young child rather than a grown woman. She truly cared nothing about anyone but herself, well, with the exception of Vic after they started dating. Her character also made me give up on this book very early on, but luckily I stuck it out.
Overall, this was an enjoyable and engaging romance! As much as Izzy almost ruined it for me, Trevor and Quinn made it all worthwhile. This is a great one to add to your TBR if you’re a lover of contemporary romance!
